"good reading"

I don't want to make my websites have too much writing to the point where the reader is intimidated by how much he had to scroll down to get to the end of the piece. I want to keep my paragraphs short and slim; slim as in the writing doesn't go all the way across the page. I don't want my writing to look like a reasearch paper online and I want to keep my writing as short as possible, but with all the necessary information in it.

true true, i too want to cut down on the amount of writing on my page or at least space it out so that it doesn't look like a lot of writing.

True, true. Slim writing is a seductive type of writing. Maybe try the hour glass figure format of writing. I hear that is what really gets all the readers.

i agree that athough you don't want to have an overload of text, don't get too carried away with pictures, etc. the text content of the pages is the main attraction and although you may want to add pictures make sure your text is effective :)
