Comparative Site Planning

There are specific, recurring themes to be noticed in the sites that have been historically successful. What separates the strong from the weak is a) the clear and fluid navigation that certain sites provide, b) a simplistic approach to organizing large amounts of text (such as a hypertext essay), c) a clear and vivid color scheme that is stylish yet not jarring, d) a complete and thought-provoking topic, and e) a keen eye for diverse web structure, including mouse-over images that change, animated buttons, and even stylistic hyperlinks embedded within text.

Given these similarities in the best of the best, the focus then shifts to how one can juxtapose them all into their own design and form without "copying" another's intellectual property. I intend to glean what I can from each while still preserving a sense of personal style and vision, keeping my site within my own parameters while enhancing it with these listed features that have proven successful.

Honestly man, i completely agree. I really like the simplicity idea, and it does seem really hard to make our own design with all of this. Obviously there are some similarities with all of the websites, but i kinda wanna make things my own... but yeah, keep it up, hopefully everything works out well for you. In my opinion, i think you should take into account some of the things that worked when you were looking at the sites and try to correlate and re-use them into yours.

I liked your noticing of the color scheme. While it is something that i saw and liked/disliked, you did bring up that it helps with the overall feel and fluidity of the wbsite. this is something i will have to keep in mind when i am doing mine
