changes to be made to the nonexistent page

Since I have not yet written my hypertext essay and I only have a few pages with a title and some potential links, there is quite a bit of room for improvement. In looking at some of the other pages people have created, I liked that there was not a ton of text on the homepage of any of the pages I viewed. I looked at "living the low-wage life: prison industry" as well as "caretakers of the dead." I liked that both sites had an interesting quote or two about their particular topic, but I preferred the layout on "caretakers of the dead." Rather than having the links stacked on top of each other, they were framed around a picture. Although it may sound like this would be distracting and/or confusing, it was done in a way that filled white space and made the links seem more interesting.
I did like that the pages on "living the low-wage life: prison industry" were consistent- the colors were different shades of the same color, which was not distracting. However, I am not sure that I am going to do the same thing as I feel that might be a little dull. I liked that the picture on the homepage would change, but it only did so when the mouse was dragged across it.
some changes I want to add to my page are:
-include a relevant quote or 2 on the homepage
-have a series of pictures in the center of the page, and place the links around it
-ask questions and then include a link that has the answer (caretakers of the dead, humorous approach page)
- keep the information on each page to a minimum- rather than having a few long pages, have several short pages
- keep the colors simple, but not too minimalistic

my page is terrible, please do not look at it:
